Sweet, tangy, sour and spicy, this refreshing and spicy mango margarita packs a flavorful punch in every sip! The frozen mango margarita brings the sweetness of mango, the tanginess of lime juice and a fiery kick, thanks to the jalapeño simply syrup.
There is nothing more refreshing on a warm summer day than a well made margarita. Now don't get me wrong, I love a good strong margarita on the rocks with a hefty salt rim. But as soon as summer approaches, the chill of a well made frozen spicy mango margarita hits all of the taste buds!
A spicy mango margarita has layers of flavors and is made with sweet frozen mango, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice and a jalapeño simple syrup, for an added kick. I highly recommend making a batch and serving the margaritas with salmon tacos, chilled ceviche or even spicy poke nachos, which would be such a fun summer dinner party!

🥭 Recipe Highlights
- Sweet and spicy! The added jalapeño in the simple syrup gives the sweet mango a lovely warm and spicy kick!
- Instead of lime juice, the glass is rimmed with tangy and sour tamarind, giving a fantastic puckery flavor that balances the sweet frozen mango!
- A spicy mango margarita is the perfect accompaniment to serve alongside your tilapia ceviche and fish tacos with mango salsa.
📋 Ingredients
- Frozen Mango: For an extra frothy chilled drink frozen mango is used. You can substitute with fresh ripe mango and if so, add extra ice to the blender.
- Silver Tequila: Save the gold tequila for sipping and use the lighter silver tequila for cocktails.
- Orange Liqueur: There are several styles of orange liqueur and the one used for this margarita is Cointreau. Another orange liqueur is grand marnier, which has Cognac in the mixture making the liqueur a bit sweeter.
- Jalapeño Simple Syrup: Make your own simple syrup with equal parts sugar and water. Add a sliced jalapeno, with the seeds and simmer until slightly thickened.
- Jalapeño: Save a few slices of jalapeño to garnish the spicy margarita.
- Fresh Lime: Use fresh lime juice for optimal flavor. Before cutting into the lime, roll the lime on a flat surface for a few seconds to release all the juices.
- Tajin: This is a puckery dried chili and lime mixture that can be found in most stores in the spice aisle. Tajin is fantastic sprinkled on watermelon, pineapple and mango and a perfect salty citrusy compliment to fruity margaritas.
- Tamarind Paste (optional): Instead of rimming the glass with lime, dip the glass into tamarind paste. Tamarind is often used in Latin cuisine and has a pronounced sour flavor that balances the other sweet ingredients of the mango margarita.

📍 Recipe Tips
- Keep the blended margarita cold! For an extra frothy margarita, add an extra ½ cup of ice before blending.
- Whenever blending a drink with frozen ingredients, add the liquid ingredients to the blender first before the frozen items. This will help the blender not work so hard and giving a smoother outcome.
Recipe FAQs
You don't need triple sec for a margarita, instead add fresh lime juice and orange liqueur.
Triple sec is a lot sweeter than Cointreau. If you like a sweeter margarita, add triple sec instead of the fresh lime juice and Cointreau.
