Slow Cooker Brisket with Red Wine and Onions

Ingredients

  • 3 lb brisket kosher preferred
  • 1 onion thinly sliced

Sauce

  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tb brown sugar
  • 3 Tb onion flakes
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 beef billion cubes
  • 1 cup stock chicken or beef, low sodium
  • 1 Tb garlic powder
  • 2 Tb Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Line the bottom of the slow cooker with the onions. Then top with brisket and season with salt and pepper.
  • In a bowl, add together all the sauce ingredients and mix well. Pour sauce over brisket and cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • Towards the end of the cooking, use a spoon to skim off any excess fat from the sauce.
  • To serve, place on platter and drizzle sauce on top.
