Ingredients

Instructions

  • Add the cilantro, parsley, chopped garlic, jalapeño, cardamom, cumin and olive oil to a food processor.
  • Blend until a smooth paste forms and there are no large leaves. Add water as needed if the mixture is too thick.
  • Transfer to a resealable container until ready to use.

Notes

    • Add the tender cilantro stems and parsley stems to the food processor. This will only enhance the fresh herb flavors!
    • Add 1-2 tablespoons of water of a time to thin out the consistency and help the food processor blend the ingredients.
    • Store the zhug sauce in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
    • Yields about 1 cup of sauce.
