Ingredients

Mango Margarita

  • 1 cup Frozen mango
  • 3 ounces Silver tequila
  • 1 ½ ounces Orange liqueur such as cointreau
  • 1 ounce Lime juice
  • 1 ounce Jalapeño simple syrup (recipe. below)
  • ½-1 cup Ice

Garnish

  • Jalapeño slices
  • Tamarind paste optional
  • Tajin

Jalapeño Simple Syrup

Instructions

  • To a blender, add the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and jalapeno simple syrup. Top with the frozen mango and add and close with the lid and blend the margherita until smooth and there are no large ice cubes left.
  • Pour some tamarind paste on a plate and pour tajin on another plate. Dip the rim of a glass into the tamarind paste and then into the tajin so the edge is completely coated.
  • Pour the spicy mango margarita into the glasses and garnish with additional jalapeño slices and serve immediately.

Jalapeño Simple Syrup

  • To a small pot, add 1 cup of white sugar, 1 cup of water and 1 sliced jalapeño (with the seeds) and bring to a simmer.
  • Simmer the simple syrup for 5-7 minutes until the sugar has dissolved and syrup has slightly thickened
  • Let the syrup cool completely, then transfer to a mason jar and keep in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

    • No Tajin? Instead, make this chili-lime mixture with 1 tablespoon Kosher salt, 1 tablespoon sugar, ¼ teaspoon cayenne and zest of ½ a lime.
    • For a smokey flavor, char the pineapple and jalapeño.
    • Substitute fresh mango for frozen mango. If using fresh, add an extra ½ cup of ice.
    • Make a mango margarita on the rocks. Instead of a blended margarita, substitute the frozen mango with 1 cup of mango juice, shake and pour over ice.
    • Whenever blending a drink with frozen ingredients, add the liquid ingredients to the blender first before the frozen items. This will help the blender not work so hard and giving a smoother outcome.
